DE QUERVAIN’S TENOSYNOVITIS: HOW TO SCAN AND INJECT ON ULTRASOUND

• De Quervain’s tenosynovitis is a stenosing tenosynovitis involving the  retinaculum of the first dorsal compartment of the wrist, with involvement of abductor pollicis longus (APL) and extensor pollicis brevis (EPB) tendons and their synovial sheath.

• Ultrasound assessment requires being able to identify the first dorsal compartment and its components.

• In this video, Dr Rajendra Sahoo demonstrates where to look, what to look for and how to position the probe in assessing the first dorsal compartment of the wrist for De Quervain’s tenosynovitis on ultrasound.
