KUALA LUMPUR MSK MRI WORKSTATION

WORKSHOP: SHOULDER, ELBOW, WRIST/HAND MRI

Why workstation based workshops and not endless days of lectures?

AS A RADIOLOGIST YOU MAY HAVE THIS CHALLENGE

When Dr Maria trained, she was not taught much MRI, particularly MSK. But now, she is expected to report and also reviews scans with clinicians. Everytime she reports, this stresses her and then she waits for the clinician’s call. Did I get it right or wrong? So to learn she goes to conferences, reads articles or Googles! But she doesn’t see enough cases or learns a structure to assess and diagnose a full scan. Result... Dr Maria’s confidence to report scans remains low.

HERE IS A SOLUTION WORTH CONSIDERING

A fellowship is a good solution to Dr Maria’s problem, but 1 year and the expense? So, what should she do? How about a 2 day mini fellowship on specific joints where you are guided to learn a structure, recognise and diagnose what is important and reinforce and retain it by looking at 100’s of scans. This is a great way to learn. That’s how I learnt in my fellowship. The information you need to know then, lots of scans and someone guiding you through them to Learn By Doing.

SO, WHAT WILL YOU LEARN?

This is a 2 day comprehensive teaching of MSK MRI of the Shoulder, Elbow, Hand and Wrist. You will learn in a systematic way, assessment of all the important features in assessing each joint. Not just facts but a structure of how to assess and review, how to differentiate between similar looking pathologies and how to produce a consise and accurate report.

REVIEW, REFRESH, REMEMBER

One of the big issues is forgetting. We all know the feeling of learning and then rapidly forgetting what we have learnt. To get around this we now have a post workshop Deliberate Practice Programme for one month, where every day you will receive a post, video or dicoms to view on topics we have covered in the workshop. Review images and scans, Refresh your memory and Retain more of what you have learnt.

structured learning

Learn a structured, pattern based way to assess and diagnose MRIs. Ask questions whenever you don’t understand or cant see the abnormality. Fix the understanding on the spot.

100’s of dicoms

Once you have a structure and pattern, learning and retaining knowledge is all about repetition. You are not left on your own. We guide you through 100’s of dicoms to reinforce what you have learnt. See in a day, MRI abnormalities that’s taken us years to collect.

ITS YOUR TURN

Join your colleagues from over 20 nations who have attended our workshops in 12 countries.

Programme

Here’s what you will learn to recognise, diagnose and develop a sound understanding of.

This workshop will be for you if you have limited to intermediate level experience with MSK MRI.

4TH NOVEMBER 2017
07:30am - 08:00am
WELCOME COFFEE AND REGISTRATION
08:00am - 10:00am
LABRUM VARIANTS
LABRAL TEARS
SLAP TEARS
GLENOID FRACTURES

Assessing the shoulder labrum is usually what people have the most difficulty with. But if you have a structure, it becomes easier to differentiate and not confuse labral variants and tears, assess for complications such as cysts and denervation and do a complete assessment of all the structures involved in a labral tear and SLAP tears. Learn how to assess the Glenoid for bony injury on CT and MRI. We look at abnormalities on both arthrographic and non arthrographic scans. With a specific structure to assess the labrum, its easier than you think
10:00am - 10:30am
MORNING BREAK
10:30am - 12:30pm
ROTATOR CUFF
AC JOINT

How to perform a structured assessment to confidently diagnose tendinosis, tears and cysts on non contrast and arthrographic MRIs. What to assess in the AC joint, Acromion and Subacromial Space and how to assess the Rotator Interval for capsulo/synovitis.
12:30pm - 01:30pm
LUNCH
01.30pm - 03.30pm
BICEPS
CAPSULE: CAPSULITIS AND TEARS HAGL AND GAGLS
Biceps tendinosis, tears and dislocation. Learn how to assess the biceps tendon for tears and dislocations and the relationship to Subscapularis tears. Capsular abnormalities are very common in the shoulder. Learn how to diagnose Capsulitis and Capsular Tears of the Glenoid and Humerus.
3:30pm - 04.00pm
AFTERNOON TEA
WRIST MRI
4.00pm - 05.30pm
TENOSYNOVITIS
SCAPHOID FRACTURE AND LIGAMENT TEAR
Tenosynovitis, tendinosis and tears of the wrist and fingers. What do you look for. We finish the day learning how to assess scaphoid fractures and their complications such as avascular necrosis and scapho- lunate ligament tears on MRI.
05:30pm - 06:30pm
GROUP PHOTOS AND RECEPTION
5TH NOVEMBER 2017
07:30am - 08:00am
COFFEE
08:00am - 10:00am
WRIST LIGAMENTS
TFCC AND DRUJ

Learn how to recognise and assess the important intrinsic and extrinsic ligaments of the wrist and assess for tears and strains. Then learn the anatomy and pathology that occurs in the TFCC and DRUJ.
10:00am - 10:30am
MORNING COFFEE BREAK

10:30am - 12:30pm
CARPAL TUNNEL
FINGER LIGAMENT TEARS

FINGER PULLEY TEARS
THUMB LIGAMENT TEARS AND STENNER LESIONS
A very focussed morning of learning the essential anatomy of the carpal tunnel, thumb and finger ligaments and pulleys and how to accurately assess them for tears and complications.
12:30pm - 01:30pm
LUNCH
01.30pm - 03.00pm
ELBOW LIGAMENTS: Essential anatomy and tears
Learn the anatomy and the key findings in tendinosis, tears and bursitis of tendons around the elbow joint.

AFTERNOON BREAK
03.30pm - 04.30pm
EXTENSOR AND FLEXOR ORIGIN
BICEPS, BRACHIORADIALIS AND TRICEPS ABNORMALITIES
