What are some of the normal post operative changes at the disc on MRI. Another three quick images with some basic key points from our online spine MRI courses.
Post operative discs can demonstrate hyperintense signal on T2 scans. This is due to oedema at the discectomy site.
Post operative discs can demonstrate localised enhancement. This is due to inflammatory change at the discectomy site.
Post operative endplates can demonstrate Modic Type 1 changes adjacent to the discectomy site and can be a normal finding post OP.
