PARALABRAL CYST SHOULDER LABRUM MRI

High signal cystic structure (Pink arrow) adjacent to the labrum.

  • The structure is a paralabral cyst (Pink arrow) lying adjacent to the posterior labrum.

  • Paralabral cysts are usually seen adjacent to the labrum but can occasionally track away from the labrum.

  • They may be simple or septated.

  • The presence of a paralabral cyst is an indicator of an underlying labral tear ( whether you see it or not on MRI).

  • So if you see a paralabral cyst follow that up by looking for a labral tear.
